Private Training

Consultation & Training

Prior to building a training plan, we like to start by conducting an in-home consultation with you, your dog, and family members. During the consultation, we'll discuss your training goals, demonstrate our methods, and do a little hands on work to assess your dog. All this helps us determine what kind of training will best help you reach your goals, provide an estimate of the time frame to reach those goals, and build a personalized training plan with follow-up resources for you and your dog.

After the initial consultation, we'll provide private training tailored to your family and dog's specific needs. We work on these skills in real life situations, whether that be at home, at the park, or in your neighborhood. Every dog is unique and we strive to set them up for success not only by working with them on an individual basis but also by giving you the tools to continue training at home or out in the world. Our training plans include notes, resources, and follow-ups.

Board & Train

What is Board and Train?

Our board and train service is in-home, meaning your dog will not be at a kennel. Instead, your dog lives with the trainer full-time for a minimum of two weeks for basic obedience and training and a minimum of four weeks for severe behaviour such as fear and aggression. During their stay with us, your dog becomes part of the family, learning the basics of indoor living such as not surfing counters, house training and respecting invisible boundaries. In this way, the dog can be taught basic manners, behaviour modification and put on an exercise program with daily walks, playtime in a fenced area and socialization with other dogs.

Included with your dog's stay is one 90 minute session with the trainer per week your dog is with us so that you and your family can continue the training in your home and day-to-day. We will meet you and your family for a consultation prior to the stay to discuss concerns, behavioural history and realistic expectations.

Participation Requirements:

  • Proof of vaccinations (Rabies, DHLPP, kennel cough, flea, tick and heartworm preventive)
  • Kennel cough needs to be give in advance before boarding.
  • Boarded dogs must have leash, collar, and appropriate tags.
  • Owner must provide food to prevent digestive stress.
  • Medications and dosage schedules.
  • Feeding directions.
  • Signed contract and agreement.

What's Included?

  • Preliminary consultation.
  • Minimum two-week stay with loving trainer and her family. (Four-week minimum is required for aggression, leash reactivity and fear cases.)
  • A 90 minute private session per week of stay conducted in your home or familiar environment to transfer behaviors and ensure behavioral maintenance and consistency after the stay.

Why Board and Train?

  • Some of your training handled for you: Your dog is placed with the trainer who can continue to work on what you and and your dog need.
  • A good option when you're on vacation: Your dog can enjoy a fear-free stay, loving care, and attention in a home environment, and gets to learn something new. Boarding and training all in one!
  • Your dog is open to learning: In a new environment, your dog may be open to learning new habits. Dogs often have a history of repeating behaviors with a certain person or in a certain place. Our program allows your dog to start learning new behaviors with a clean slate.
  • Follow-Up Sessions: To ensure you're confident to maintain and be consistent with the new behaviors.

Please note: With ANY training program, the results vary for each dog and long-term satisfaction is hugely dependent on consistency from the family and behavioral maintenance when the dog returns to their home. Follow-up sessions are included to ensure you feel confident to move forward in your training and life, setting both you and your dog up for long-term success.
